My acne got worse and then better. They predict that that will happen, but it varies from person to person a bit due to individual hormone levels. I THINK mine improved after 2/3 weeks, but I cant say for sure. Hang in there, and ask your gyno if they can give you an average estimate of how long it will take for your body to become accustomed to the yaz and settle down with the acne. G'luck.

if you just started taking birth control(YAZ)then yes it is normal, until your body is adjusted to the pill. i found that ortho tri cyclen lo is good because it gives you low doses of estrogen, but you have your period every month instead of every three months.

I'm almost finished my 2nd pack, and I break out around my mouth the week before my period. I started Yaz to regulate my periods, so my hormones were way out of whack before I started. I think that when my body adjusts to the steady flow of hormones, it will get better, I heard it can take 3 months. It is really frustrating but stick with it, and hopefully it will help.

I've used Accutane in the past and loved it. Problem is, the acne comes back after six months of being off of it. I went to my dermatologist to see if he would prescribe Accutane again, but he wouldn't because he said my acne wasn't bad enough yet. I ended my Depo-Provera shots about a year ago after being on it since 2000. He suggested trying Yaz since I was looking for another form of birth control anyways. I just started taking Yaz and woke up this morning to a more severe breakout than I've seen in years. It's not awful yet, but I have about four pimples on my cheek area and they're pretty deep into the skin, unlike what I've been seeing over the past few months. I'm really hoping it doesn't get worse. I completely understand your frustration. I'll keep my comments updated. Keep me updated as well, if you can.

I would find another doctor to give you accutane. Mine said the same thing, so I went somewhere else and it only took two weeks this time to clear when the first time it stayed broke out until I got off. Mine had come back a year after getting off of it and I sort of blamed it on the fact that they wanted me to take it for six months and I stopped at four and had sixty pills left over from days I had missed. So I didn't get the full dose. Also, it is not hell if you use aquaphor on your lips and exfoliate with a wash cloth really good daily in the shower followed by a thick moisturizer to combat the dryness. Some people need a second treatment. I definately wouldn't waste time on anything else since your acne will probably continue to get worse by the day until it's full blown like it used to be.
