Well, I havn't drank in over a year. The thought to start again hasn't even really crossed my mind. I guess if you told that if I ever drank again you were going to shoot me I would probably be even more likely to never drink again. =P
-
Spending a week in Intensive Care at the hospital due to a liver disease and having the doctor tell my wife and I that I would be dead in a couple of days. That was scarey, but I'm still here!
-
if i got and STD while i was intoxicated. that would suck. alot.
-
My s/o, my brother, and my best friend are all alcoholics. Two are now recovered. One is still losing the battle. I don't drink to support their sobriety and because now the smell offends me-it brings on bad memories. I thank my lucky stars I don't have any problem with it.

The prospect of undergoing the Hellgamite Method: http://dailystrength.org/c/Alcoholism/forum/1629486-hellgamite-method ;)
-
Nothing really. I'm aware of most of the risks and still do it anyway. Now if each drink took a week off my life i'd stop, lol.
-
I went into liver failure 3 years ago..not from overdrinking..but they tell me I should probably never drink again anyway. And I haven't...If anyone could feel as sick as I did for months for 1 day or go through the nausea, vomiting and grand mal seizures(powerful enough to break two vertebrae in my back)....they would never drink again. Trust me.
-
I will stop drinking when I have kids.
-
Killing me... or i will decide not to on my own... i decide on this one! good question!

Death!

adults only please, alcohol is very addictive as so is pain pills or advil, so anyone who drinks has to be full aware of their situation at every minute when drinking, that means control if you cant then do everyone a favor and dont drink, i love a cold beer without your childhood drama, to answer your question when coors goes out of buisness
-
If I came back from the future and told myself to quit, then I would.
-
Dunno but good question. Right now the things that'd make me stop immediately cold turkey and never look back would all be too late (*serious* health problems, blood in urine due to organ failure, etc)...and I know all those are coming if I don't at least slow down...but I guess I'm just not ready yet. I've quit a bunch of other stuff, and I'm realistic in knowing I can't keep drinking like a fish every day...just not ready to do anything about it yet. *shrug*
-
Nothing. If I feel like having one I will and if I don't ..then I won't.
-
Killing someone as a result of drunk driving or going on dialysis because I've destroyed my liver.
-
I never would. I was married to an alcoholic & I won't even allow alcohol in my home. Not a lot of people will come over but I don't care
-
Sharia law. I drink very little, and I only drink with a meal BUT, as a Christian, I am taught that it is not the wine that is the problem but the drunkenness. I contend that there is nothing wrong with A glass of wine.
-
THANK YOU! Sweet Arena, My brother is a wonderful man, and I want only good thoughts of him... PAUL - is a WONDERFUL man and I will honor everything he ever did! and that is exactly what I told him 10 min before he passed.

A whole lot of money.
-
If family ever became worried about me. I don't drink much, but if what I did drink worried them then I would just lay it down. A glass of wine or beer with dinner isn't worth stressing my loved ones.
-
Not much because I hardly ever touch the stuff.
-
my sister, and six of my friends were in a car accident. the driver is a very close friend of mine. they all went out to the bars and then went to a house party. they then decided to buy a couple cases of beer. the driver was driving over 80 miles an hour and flew threw a stop sign. he thought there was a turn at the end of this road but it was a church parking lot and they all ended up flying off of this very steep hill and struck a tree. two of my friends were pronounced dead at the scene. everyone else was alright except for one broken knee, and minor injuries. the night after the accident everyone had memorials for the two that died at the bars. after the funerals everyone got drunk. the whole situation is ridiculous and that is what made me stop drinking.
-
Remembering that it killed my mother helps me.
-
Very little, actually. I hardly drink at all anymore anyway.

-
No answer will ever be good enough. Some people like peanut butter and others hate it. Some are alcoholics and others will never drink at all. Do you drink to get drunk or just to have A drink? Two different things.
-
what it took.....dr said if I didn't stop right then I was going to die
-
That sweet tea will make me feel drunk.
-
sadly nothing as it happens. that goes for me and the rest of the western world, i know that alcohol is an awful drug yet i still would have the occasional drink. its engrained into are culture, ofcourse this isnt a good thing but culture seems to be rarely about how good or bad things are.
-
probably liver failure or something terrible happens.. they are the only things that will stop me..
-
Last weekend.
-
My s/o telling me I was drinking too much and it was impacting on our relationship would make me watch how much I drink but not give it up totally. Not being an alcholic thats easy for me to say.
-
A loving girlfriend would stand a reasonable chance for me not to get drunk again. But since I don't have one, and haven't been with a girl for like 4 years, ALCOHOL IS THE ONLY THING I GOT ha ha ha ha

It took a D.U.I. about 5 years ago.

It took losing my s/o,my home, and my true friends. Been sober since 26 DEC 02.
-
Very good question. I really don't know the answer and that bothers me. I guess if someone could show a picture 'this is your brain' and 'this is your brain damaged after you drink' I just don't know.
-
seeing somebody close die as a result from drinking or seeing somebody close develop into an alcoholic.
-
Proof that alcohol makes your penis shrivel up and fall off.
-
Only the realization that alcoholism is a desease and we have it and we must get cured. Only the realization as to how the alcohol changes the our basic nature by removing all natural inbuilt inhibitions. The realization of how our behavior changes when inhibitions don't stop us from doing things that we wouldn't dream of doing when sober. Without this realization no one will be conviced to stop drinking.
-

-
I don't so I do not need to be convinced.
-
Nothing.
-
I don't drink and simply have no interest in it. Plus it's one of those things that is hard for most people to stop once they start, and I have no delusions about my own will power, given that I am addicted to chocolate.
-
If it was affecting my health or if it helped someone I love then I wouldn't drink again. I hardly drink as it is so it aint really a problem.
-
After I wake up dead and my mouth and jaw is wired shut.
-
It wouldn't take much to convince me, since I don't drink all that often anyway. It's not something that would be difficult for me to stop completely if I had to.
-
If there would be a worthy substitute to alcohol, that gave same euphoria, although totally safe. :-)
