From what I've seen in countless nature videos and documentaries I believe most of them don't.
They go for the silent approach. Roaring is used in other circumstances.
Once they have stalked their prey, they usually ambush, not chase, and not all cats roar. They would do it for surprise and indimidation.
Before they spot their prey, if they can't find any, a lion will roar towards the ground to make the ground shake or vibrate. It will make some critters get scared and run out into the open.
For the most part they do not roar and then chase their prey, as this would give away that they are there and hunting.
