the reason women wear make-up is to make them look more feminine. in other words if there was a not so attractive, or just has manly features, lady she will wear make-up to look and feel more confident when trying to attract men.

Some females think wearing makeup is part of the society they live in, not just to attract men.

I like wearing make-up, I like getting dressed up for a night out and painting my face is part of the fun of that- in a way its like an art form, I enjoy it in the same way some people enjoy painting pictures- I enjoy creating different looks, using my own face as a sort of canvas and seeing how possible it is to completely alter the way someone looks. I don't do it to attract men I don't do it for the sake of fashion (I've never really bothered with beauty magazines and suchlike, if I think I look good, that's enough for me) or as a disguise (I've never understood why so many women spend ages putting on make up to look as if they aren't wearing any!)- I don't think I look particularly bad without make-up, I use it to express my personality in the same way as I'm sure you express your personality through your clothes. at the end of the day, why shouldn't a woman wear make-up if she enjoys it? I'm pretty sure that even if every man in the world were blind I'd carry on wearing make-up, I appreciate a well made up face in the same way I appreciate beautiful art. Its not that nature itself isn't beautiful, but artifice can also be beautiful, albeit in a lightly different way. One of the thing that annoyed me about extremist feminists was that they insisted that women shouldn't wear make-up and high heels- in a sense taking away a woman's right to express herself through her appearance in that way should she wish to do so. You may not think its terribly attractive, and that's your own opinion which you are entitled to, but I doubt that the make-up wearing women in the world are really doing it to impress you. (Many women hate muscly men, it doesn't stop men from body building) In a way its just as bad for a woman to stop wearing make-up because a man thinks she looks better without it, as it is for her to wear make-up to attract a man in the first place. EDIT: bignose, you seem to have a major chip on your shoulder about something. Why are you so aggresive? You asked a question, I gave you an answer from the point of view of someone who wears make-up, and I hope that it satisfies your curiosity. Its you who's doing all the judging and insulting. Not me. It seems to me that you asked this question in the hope that someone would give you answers that gave you an oppurtunity to insult them- essentially you're just trolling for a fight. If it was mere curiosity about why women do this then I believe I have given a valid reason and satisfied your curiosity. You have made assumptions about me (that I'm ugly or stupid or a tramp) purely because I wear make-up. You say you don't care what I think, and that you don't try to force your views on others, yet you seem to be getting disproportionately wound up about it for someone who "doesn't give a rat's ass".

Are you sure you are not hanging around Transvestites? Females, in general, do not wear gobs. In fact some even give the brush a little tap to remove excess.

Once I was going out to a place where I knew there would be lots and lots of pretty girls and I wouldn't be able to compete. So I painted on very dark, very think eyebrows. At least I could be the most unique. It worked! Guys talked to me just because I was totally different from the rest.

Most women wear makeup to accentuate their natural beauty. The women who wear "gobs" may be a little insecure about their appearance or were never taught how to properly apply makeup, are inexperienced, or they are applying makeup in a poorly lit room.

Not all females wear gobs of make up. The ones that do probably haven't honed the fine art of proper application yet. Or for some unknown reason they are fond of the overdone look.

Not all of us do. The ones who do, like it and feel pretty in it.

I don't know any women that wear "gobs" of make up. I wear a little, but only enough so I don't scare anyone when I'm in public. I don't have alot of time for "making myself up". I'm a natural girl and aside from time restrictions, I just don't like the feel of spackle on my skin during the day. I do like the Bare Minerals stuff though...

Most females want to look pretty. Its not about being insecure. It feels good to be attractive, and look the best you can while your young. In some cases, you can't look like a slob at work. Sometimes women put too much make up on due to lighting or the over do it thinking they look good. Your basic made up face is okay though...it might seem alot to men who wear none, but for females its basic. Usually a foundation/powder, mascara, lipstick/gloss, maybe blush or eyeliner...depends on mood.

There are different reasons. They may want males attention, but it is not right. Makeup covers up real skin, and it gives a fake look. It dishonors God.

because they can! sometimes I wear alot of makeup...not because I'm insecure or anything like is stated above..but, because I CAN and its fun to experiment with my looks using the colors and textures of different makeup.
