I always look at avatars first so I am easily befuddled when I notice an old user name with a new avatar.
-
Depends if the person has recently changed their avatar.... sm00z!!
-
Mostly the avatar. I hate it when they change their user name and then talk to me like they know me and I'm going *WTH*! and who are you?
-
The name. I keep the name. Eventually the ending or titles or group will change, but the key word in the name will remain the same...sometimes...
-
I recognize those that usually have the same avatar by their avatar. . There are some who change avatars as often as I do. Most of them almost never change their usernames, so in those cases that's my primary means of identification.
-
I tend to do a quick recognition of their avatar first, but I always make sure that I look at the UserName before responding (since multiple people could have the same avatar or someone can change their avatar from time to time).
-
I can catch the avatar out of the corner of my eye. If I do not recognize it, I read the name. Luckily, I have active AB friends so I spend a lot of my AB time answering/reviewing my friends QnA. So I know whose stuff I am reading before I read it.

Half the time I must confess I can't tell what the avatar is, so I go by names for the most part.
-
Most times the avatar ... sometimes user id At times I don't look at either ... I simply read the question or answer ... then apply my input. Nevets

user name.

Usually the avatar. But a catchy name will stick with me first.
-
Avatar, ususally. But if I run into the same user frequently, I will start recognizing their username.
-
Username since I noticed people change their avatar.
