Why do people use the phrase "anal-retentive" like it's a bad thing?

I agree with you Bob... I don't think I want to hang out at the mall with a person who was the opposite. Unless, of course, they were wearing a giant diaper with a Christmas tree shaped air freshener hanging off of it.

I don't know. I've always been glad my anus was retentive until the appropriate place and time.

It's not a good thing to be. I say just let it out; especially when you are hovering over a circular porcelain bowl.
