Is the zero tolerance policy in schools getting out of control?

No, school is a place where our children are suppose to learn and prepare for the future. Gangs, drugs, weapons etc are way out of control. The schools need to keep things in check.

It's been out of control. The mere fact that the institution that is supposed to teach children to think and use logic doesn't think or use logic when it comes to punishing children is crazy. A boy who is a carpenter after school is arrested on weapons possession and expelled for having a knife in his jeep. One he used for work and it was in his tool belt in the back of his jeep. A girl is expelled for having a Tweetybird key chain because the chain is longer than is allowed. Zero tolerance is insane. It has taken the decision making ability out of the hands of those in charge of the schools. There are no longer allowances for circumstances. No longer a need to evaluate the situation and make a choice that is best for all students involved. Zero tolerance is one reason why my child doesn't attend public school.

yes I believe so, I thought our schools main goal was to get kids all the way thru school, not to kick out as many as they can for silly things that we all did in school that didnt get us kicked out.
