I have no idea, why people put their own personal grievances on AB. If you're suicidal, waiting for someone you don't know over the internet to convince you to stop is a stupid idea. I usually flag these questions.

Sometimes they are, sometimes they aren't. Better to give most of those the benefit of the doubt and answer those questions trying to help that person. Maybe that answer can help other people in a similar situation. What I do sometimes is try to find out more about the person asking by asking some questions in return myself requesting further information/details. I think that way you'll find out soon enough if they're "putting you on" or not by the way they respond(or not) to that.

I feel the same way. But I usually give them the benefit of the doubt - once. If they ask the same question 3 different ways, or get caught in a lie about their age or other details between questions, they get no mercy.
