No. He should not be celebrated. He should be imprisoned longer than he was. Goetz wasn't attacked. He was merely threatened. No weapon was presented by his aggressors. If her were attacked or threatened with a weapon and then shot those people, then more power to him.

I think he was marked as a part of history in the Billy Joel song "We Didn't Start the Fire". Just another sad testimony of fear and violence. I guess he was tired of being bullied and he took the law into his own hands which is not advisable.
