I doubt that it's the food. The foam could be from fur that she has swallowed. My Shetland Sheepdog gets hairballs and I know how distressing it is to see them go through that. I would always check with your vet to make sure though, but if you can't afford a veterinary visit, you could go to some Shitzu breeder's sites and email someone who looks like they realy know Shitzus. Also if you boarded her, was she immunized for Kennel Cough previous to boarding?

Thanks for your response:( No I dont think it's fur she does'nt shed. This is the first time she has been left alone with our other dog and cat we have sort of a kennel built for them in the back yard and when I'm at work she stays out there. It's closed off so she could'nt have ate something unusual except for the new food.It was only one night so I figured she would be ok I found at least 4 places where she vomited two were piles of undigested food the others were yellow foam and she keeps vomiting this yellow substance..A friend told me to give her white rice and she vomited that 4 hrs later it looked like brown rice..The weird thing is that she is in a great mood, playful and she still has some apetite..

It could, but it's impossible to know the cause just from reading your story. Make sure she is happy and lively, deworming and vaccinations should be up to date. Otherwise take her to a vet. The yellow substance is bile, it is often seen when dogs vomit. Most likely it isn't anything serious and will go away, but you might want to have a vet rule out anything dangerous.

We have a 3 year old shih tzu & had this problem. From what I understand, it's quite common in small dogs. Our vet told us all dogs think about food and if they go long periods of time without eating they work themselves up licking their chops and yawning which causes them to swallow air which makes them throw up this yellow bile. The advice was to feed small meals more often. Our dog eats 1/2c. of a good grain free raw food kibble a day. 1/8c.in the a.m. as soon as we wake, 1/8c. when we come home @ 4:30 p.m. and 1/4c. right before bed. The largest meal before bed because he was waking us by throwing up in the mornings. Maybe this could be a nonmedicating alternative. Hope this helps.

My 5 year old shitzu has similar throwing up bouts about once every three months. Normally,I can tie it to giving her meat scraps or excessive feeding, in general. She adores all raw fruits & vegetabes, with carrots being her favorite. Finding the right dog food to suit her was hard. Her teeth are tiny and beef seems to bother her stomach. Now I'm giving her soft kibbles based on chicken. but I have to remind myself not to give in to her begging between meals!
