Nope. I would let them know that they smell beautiful and might ask what kind it is so I can pick some up and make for a nice gift. I won't say that I'm asking for any other reason other than that I thought it was a pleasant scent which is probably the case most of the time.

If the circumstances are appropriate, I'll ask a complete stranger what she's wearing if I like the scent. I love testing free fragrance samples with my wife. Sometimes we both leave Wal Mart smelling like Paris Hilton. :p

Have never thought about hesitating to ask and my wife has never hesitated to ask a guy. It's a nice complement to tell someone you think that they are wearing a nice fragrance.

I had male friends ask me what scent I was wearing and they had absolutely no interest in me romantically. Guys don't ask things like that just to try and pick-up a lady.
