fuel savings would be difficult to estimate,but,wear and tear on tires,suspension components,etc would be a much higher exepense. usually a set of steering tires will last 120,000 mi. w/ proper maintenance.after being removed from the steering they can still be used for trailer service ,then recapped and reused again.if they are NOT maintained,service would be limited to steering use and then recapped...this would lose about 120,000 to 175,000 miles of use. At a cost of $350 (or more) for each tire it does not take long to eat into the profit margin.

you should go to a college and ask that question to a mathmatician. i can see the furrowed brow now. those guys love perplexing questions and can come up with some crazy calculations to figure things like how many times you can tie/untie your shoe before the shoestring breaks. .... lol
