You should be glad that you a free enterprise country like the United States where your great grand kids and your great-great grand kids will be paying the debt. U.S. federal government debt as of april, 2008: $9.5 trillion plus with unfunded programs such as Medicaid, Social Security, Medicare etc. promises are added this figure rises to $59.1 trillion. at $9.5 trillion the per capita debt would be about $31,000. at $59.1 trillion the per capita debt would about $188,851 How much you got in your piggy-bank?

That is not true: it is perfectly possible to run a socialised government on a non-debt basis. And I certainly expect your children, if not your grandchildren, to be paying the debts for GWB's spending. He has put the US further into debt than any preceding president. A recent study showed that federal spending rises at a more-or-less constant rate regardless of party in White House and Congress. Basically, the combination of public expectations and pork barrel politics is simply not controllable. The difference is that Democrats expect it to rise and raise taxes to pay for it. Republicans expect it not to happen and pretend it isn't happening when it does, or is exceptional, and pay for it by borrowing; this means that it is paid bak in the long term by inflation.

Debt, as a percentage of GDP, is perfectly acceptable. They say were mortgaging our childrens future. I say they will be paying for the improved world the debt has brought. The socialized part. s.security, welfare, unemployment, socialized medicine, etc. Will destroy us like the soviets
