  • I don't think it's appropriate to attack anyone. Such actions should be reported.
  • I would guess it depends on HOW you are calling people out. If it's blaming them for something they didn't do, or something that no one will believe they did (whether they actually did it or not), then they and their friends may take offense to it. In other words, if you have proof, you should include IT in the "calling out".
  • The true origin of trolling stems particularly from calling out someone by name in hostile intent. For example if I made a thread like, ''Do you guys think Jen jen is so and so?'' or if I was calling you out on something you did on another question, just to stir up trouble or insult you, or keep a fight or bad incident going when it's supposed to be over, usually decreed as such by moderators or in this case, community leaders. I've seen it a few times here, but people have ways to get around and be all sneaky through the formulation of their question which doesn't break any rules and seems decent; but is an evident attempt at pissing someone off. Unfortunately the intent cannot be proven if no guidelines are broken, so I guess nobody does anything about it if it's reported. I don't see it that often though, and the few times that I have, the questioner was often confronted by the person's close friends. But I think the subtle and vague presentation is the problem mostly. :/
