  • Recent versions will, but I recommend using something with a smaller footprint. Avast! is excellent, and it won't hog your computer's resources like Norton does.
  • it should do as long as you keep it up to date, but still be careful what you download as new viruses come out every day.
  • Norton Antivirus is primarily focused on detecting and repairing viruses, worms, and trojans... Yes, it will protect you against Peer to Peer file sharing, if you have it configured to "autoprotect"... I would also install a dedicated Anti-spyware program on your machine, regardless of the peer to peer file sharing... I haven't seen a machine yet that did not have spyware that got past their anti-virus program which the more robust anti-spyware programs were able to detect... In some cases, a LOT of spyware... After testing a number of Anti-spyware programs last year, the one that seemed to work best and detect what the others had missed is Spy Sweeper by Webroot. Detects, removes, and repairs over 250,000 different varieties of spyware.
