Be vegetarian. Why? 98% of all animals abused are the animals we eat. Indirectly, we actually pay our money to make this abuse possible. They have no rights that a domestic pet dog or cat has, yet they are equally smart, loving and sensitive if you treat them as a pet. The only right they have is to be abused in anyways imaginable behind closed doors and then to be slaughtered barbarically (without anesthesia, of course) behind closed doors. If you seriously want to stop animal abuse with 98% effectiveness, then go veg ! It's that simple and that effective on an individual level. Don't give your money to fuel these businesses. Adopt a plant-based diet and divorce yourself from contributing to more abuses. Boycott companies that are proven to violate the Humane Slaughter Act. Check out the companies you buy food from to help avoid offenders. make donations to groups that legally rescue abused and abandoned animals. Spay and neuter your pets so they do not end up producing unwanted animals. Refuse to support entertainment you would consider animal abuse (bull fights, cock fights, dog fights, etc.). That's a few suggestions for you.
