Some off the top of my head: Unearth - "The Great Dividers" Rage Against the Machine - "Take the Power Back," "Freedom," and many, many more. System of a Down - "Boom!," F*** the System," and many more. Lamb of God - "As the Palaces Burn" Shadows Fall - "A Fire in Babylon" Killswitch Engage - "Let the Bridges Burn" Pantera - "Rise," "F***ing Hostile," etc. There's a ton of punk and punkcore songs about defiance too, if you're interested. Look up Pennywise, Rise Against, etc.

I think the others got it right... based on your key word of defiant - I think of things in the vein of Pantera, Lamb of God etc. I want to say this is its own genre... Yes, I believe you may be looking for groove metal!
