  • yes, many civilizations have their versions of how earth was created. however only the Bible is known to explain exactly how everything was created. scientists credit the bible for giving an accurate account of how creation began here on earth. the order in the creative days that the Bible mentions is exactly how science verifies everything came to exist.

  • Almost every belief system has a creation myth. As long as it is taught as myth and not the word of god, interpreted by man and codified. I am fine with it.
  • There are numerous parallels in other ancient mythologies to the story of a wealthy semi-nomadic herdsman with fertility problems who frequently pimps out his wife to the rich-powerful local ruler where he's currently encamped - tricking him into thinking she's his sister and not his wife? What I'm trying to say is you really REALLY need to get past Chapter 6. In fact, you need to study the whole Pentateuch + Joshua and then come back and read Chapters 1-6 of Genesis in the light of what follows. Also wouldn't hurt to learn some Hebrew - or at least study a good commentary that explains the Hebrew symbolism.
