Not only weird, but stupid. How can you be effective if you don't believe in the process. You are dealing with other people's lives--don't mess around.

It is irresponsible and unrealistic to imagine that without a proper understanding and first-hand experience of therapy - plus a thorough training background - could possibly aspire to become a therapist. It is of prime importance for all therapists to undergo ongoing therapy, for at least as long as the training period and even afterwards. Why does this person want ot become a therapist? Its like wanting to be a hairdresser and disliking handling other people's hair, surely?

"therapy" is a very big word. Ar you particularly referring to, say, psychotherapy, or do you include radiotherapy, massage therapy and retail therapy?

I know a shrink, who stopped believing in therapy after more then 20 years of practice. He still works, his office is pretty busy. For professional it's not important to believe in what he's doing. It's enough for people to believe in him.
