Actually, no. Ketchup, or tomato sauce, is thought to have been derived from a fish sauce found in the area of Canton by European sailors. The name "ketchup" is a bastardization of the Cantonese name for the sauce. So ketchup was, in a way, originally a fish sauce.

No, that is how us here, hillbillies do it after we deep fry it. Seriously no it isn't. I prefer home made tarter sauce though.
