I have a birth-mark on my neck that looks a lot like a hickey. Sometimes I feel like it keeps guys away from me. What's the best way to cover it?

i have one too and i am soo embarassed of it- everyone since i was in college thinks its a hickey- for the past 4 years ive been covering it with makeup and/or fake tan spray(this works somewhat- its not perfect) I want to get somethign done to remove it permanently as it makes me extremely self conscious bc it is gets darker in hot weather ir when i am hot.

Hi-- I also have a birthmark on my neck that is really, very annoying. Over the years, I've figured out how to cover it completely, to the point that nobody can see it. There is a make-up line called Dermablend that is the thickest foundation that you can find. You might need more than one color to make a nice match to your own skin color. Once you've applied and blended, there is a "setting powder" that you apply over the foundation and let stand for about 5 minutes. You can even work out and this stuff will stay put quite nicely. As for permanent removal, it depends on the type of birthmark you have. If, like me, you have a cafe au lait (a light brown macule), these are the hardest to get rid of. But there are tons of lasers out now that target the melanin and lots of people see great results. Do a google search to find a dermatologist who specializes in laser surgery. Make sure they know what they are doing, as a lot of them will make many claims of knowledge, but actually have no idea what they are doing. I hope this helps...goodluck =)

i also have a birthmark on my neck which when i was 10, i got lazered off a bit but it is still there and looks like a hickey as many people have told me! I also got the "dermablend" products which yes, works perfectly on my neck but at the end of the day, i don't see why you should want to cover it up! i figured out that its part of me. Sometimes i hate the sight of it but theres no point pretending to be someone ur not. U have to learn to live with it and even my friends tell me that they forget its there now. I continue living my life and if people don't like it...don't talk to me. no skin off my teeth at the end of the day. believe me, people will like u for who u r! and im 18 btw, worst age to go through it with people asking stupid questions like... did u get burnt! grrr but anyways hope that helped :) xxxx
