  • It sounds like they don't want people with criminal records to be discouraged from applying. Sounds fine to me. I'm sure they send it to all applicants - not just you.
  • It means they will consider you even if you have a conviction. However, it does not necessarily mean that they will hire you over someone else without a conviction.
  • Usually that box is referring to felonies so your misdemeanors would not require you to check that box. if you do have a felony and you fail to check that box they can fire you latter for giving false info. If you check the box you may still be eligible depending on what that conviction was for.
  • Well, I was told because of my misdemeanors that they won't be able to offer me teh position even after they sent m eteh offer letter and remember these are just misdemeanors non violent? I was told by the company that it looks bad because of the history of having misdemeanors and than I tried to explain that I was a victim of circumstance and although I have them does not mean that I am guilty I was basically forced to claim no contest based on having to work and support my kids because I couldn't take time off from work to fight it and it was I thought easier at that time just to claim that and be done with it never thinking it would come back to haunt me. This is in california anyone know what I can do to fight this, I really need this job??

  • yes and yes most people won't hire felons. if the app line states 'felony' and you have mis d you don't even have to check the box
  • If it says that, what it means is that they will consider you, even if you had a criminal record, depending on how serious it was. Just be honest. IT sounds like they are trying to help.
  • The amount of time since a felony conviction can make a difference also. At a fast food job we could hire felons, as managment, if the conviction was over three years old.
  • not sure but sometimes i wonder why people that get out of jail get jobs while people that have never been in jail cant get them
