Wow, get rid of that WinME. It's unstable and not very handy - if your hardware can stand XP, I warmly recommend it. Now, if you just have to stick with your ME, try booting from a cd or a floppy to bypass the starting process of Windows that is probably causing your computer's shutdown , and run a reinstallation of the whole Windows ME. Be careful not to format your drive while you're at it, go with the faster and lighter option of reinstalling it just to fix the problems with it, while maintaining the data on your HD. If this does not fix your problem, it's most likely hardware-based, and you might want to consider taking the whole thing in for maintenance, or just get a new one. I heard them apples are pretty good these days... But I go by pc myself.
