1) You are speaking metaphorically here, aren't you? In this sense, I am afraid our whole economy is already running on it. 2) If had to be taken wordly, I suppose that manure is still one of the best fertilizers that we have, so we should not spoil it by running our cars with it.

They will keep feeding the American public bulls**t to cover up the fact that alternative fuel which is cheaper and cleaner to produce already does exist.
