It's only long by comparison to todays garbage music with average song length of 3:20 seconds and more than 2 minutes of that is powercords, the rest is screaming. The fact that musicians back in the day like Queen, Pink Floyd, Zepplin all had songs that took longer because they had a story to tell. They weren't doing it to get 15 tracks on a disc and sell it...they truly were into the music and many didn't even care if they got paid. I listen to Nights With Alice Cooper on 105.9 WHZT and he said one night that "paying musicians for their craft kills the craft". I have to agree.
