Why wouldnt the mother want them? Is she nursing them? Try to get them to nurse again, keep the mother in an enclosed area indoors with them (example: bathroom with door closed, food, and litter). Feeding: Kittens can start on kitten food as early as 5 weeks, but in the mean time theyll have to have kitten milk replacer formula. Dont give them any other kind of milk. You can buy that in any pet store and even walmart. There are directions on the can and you can probably get a bottle in the store too. They will need to eat often, including during the night. Kittens raised by hand are generally a bit misbehaved/maladjusted when theyre older, so try to get them to nurse from the mother if at all possible. Thats not always the case though, they can grow to be very affectionate too. It varies. Worming/flea protection: Do they have fleas!? Fleas arent an issue for older kittens or adults, but they can be deadly for young kittens. A severe flea problem can cause anemia and death. If the kittens have fleas, they need to be removed via warm washcloth, comb, etc. They are too young for any chemical treatment, it is not safe for them. They will most likely not need to be wormed at this time, that comes later when theyre older. Consult your vet about the fleas if theyre an issue. There MAY be a new flea product that is safe for kittens so young, I dont know though. Also, ask the vet about worming and advice on raising them. You really shouldnt try to do this without speaking to someone. Once theyre old enough (probably after 6/7 weeks) make sure that you find them responsible homes and that the owners make appointments for them to be spayed/neutered (fixed) once theyre old enough. Let me know if you have any questions and I hoped this helped.
