  • No, that is against the law in most jurisdictions. So says my brother the fireman, and my brother the policeman.
  • I do not think so. It is illegal for them to do so. And from what I've seen they use the sirens and lights as little as possible.
  • Well it is illegal, but in this little ole town they do what they want. My sister was married before and all the relatives were cops. I was coming home one morning at around 3 am(worked night shift) and I seen the lights coming up, I pulled over and it was my brother in laws two cousins. They get out and just start chatting me up saying that they heard I got a divorce and just wanted to see how I was doing (they were flirting) They never stopped me for any reason but to chat. So it goes by towns I think, they would never do something like that in a city.
  • Yes, i do for an emergency meeting at the donut shop..lol
  • this happens as the result of receiving the following radio message: "LAST ONE TO THE DONUT SHOP PICKS UP THE CHECK!!!"
  • Maybe as a rookie, a couple of times. But crossing an intersection like that is dangerous. When you are in a patrol unit, you don't have to do anything to be noticed. Besides, running your bar and whistle quickly gets old. Most of the time, when they run 33 traffic to a call, they run silent. They only use this to gain right-of-ways, so I can see where the misunderstanding is.
  • I think some do at dinnertime.
  • i see cops do that constantly out here in the bayarea but its never in an un safe way it just sucks seein someone go past while your stuck there
  • Yes, they abuse their position every chance they get!
  • Well if they didn't the pizza would get cold.
  • Some do, yes! They will never admit it though.
