1. Uninstall Vista SP1 Standalone pack (I think you are using this). Uninstall Cabal. 2. After that, update vista through windows update. Update your graphic card and sound card (if you use 1) from their respective manufacturer site. Once you got all necessary updates, it will prompt you for Vista SP1. Download and install. Do allocate time for all these updates. Run CCleaner to remove invalid registry entries. 3. Log into your account type with administrator right. Remove all residue folders of Cabal from drives that you had previously installed. Remove all previous Cabal entries that you may have allowed in your firewall program. Install Cabal on your default os drive. Use right-click, "Run as Administrator" for Cabal setup file. 4. Once installation complete, uncheck the box "Start Cabal" or something similar. Exit. Go to your Cabal folder -> right-click Cabal -> click Properties -> click Compatibility tab -> tick "Run this program as an administrator". Do the same for cabalmain and update. If while playing and it lags, tick "Disable visual themes". 5. Check Cabal desktop shortcut had the same settings. Run Cabal. Do not interrupt Cabal while it is updating. Do not click "Check Files" if fail. After update completes, run Cabal. Should work fine. Vista SP1 have known issues with certain programs and third party drivers. So if Xtrap does not work, shutdown your firewall and anti-virus program. Run Cabal. If it runs successfully, either 1 of the programs could be in the Vista SP1 list. Check and confirm through microsoft site and for solutions as well. You could also look into solutions by players as they work. For vista, do not do any memory registry tweak but rather adding ram instead. http://forums.playpark.net/showthread.php?p=5048800
