  • I would if I had more property and if I could keep all the animals and insects away in a safe manner.
  • Heck, yes! Nothing better than growing your own food! Fresh and cheap! Seeds cost $1. Yes, you dont get immediate gratification and you have to plan your menu around what you have available, but its worth it for the money you save and the pride you feel. Now, that's going green!
  • I love having a go at growing my own and have for the last couple of years, this year i have planted tomatoes, carrots, peas, broad beans and in the fruit department have bought a apple tree as well as rhubarb, strawberrys and gooseberrys:-)
  • Yes. But given that the only land available to me has my leach field on it, it'll have to be put off for a while.
  • I do anyway. It's healthier and fun!
  • We do! It gives us our own "free" organic food and it can also be used to teach your kids the lessons of raising your own food and taking care of your body. We also raise our own meat. You don't even want to know what companies put in and on your food you get at the grocery store and in eating facilities. I think most ppl view it by telling theirselves if they don't ask they won't have to know.
  • For those who can do it - probably it makes sence. A grown basil bush in a pot costs 1.50 at the garden centre (where I went to get flowers for gardening). Nice and big and fresh. Cut off 1/10th of it packed to die in plastic costs 2 bucks in a store. Plus, when you grow your own, you get a better control of a quality of your foodstuff - in matter of pesticides, antibiotics and groth stimulators, I mean chemicals that make your food grow faster and last longer. If you have time and desire - way to go!)))))
  • I have and I do. A few years ago, we used to grow just about everything we ate except for things like flour sugar (though we used our honey) oils, grains. We even raised our meat. I stayed at home and took care of he garden and animals and we had a good life:-)
  • I grow some produce and I am working on building up a garden area. This year it's just peppers, tomatoes and black raspberries... and I keep hoping to get in some herbs. As I manage to get up the paving stones and get good dirt in instead of sand, I'll do more.
  • No, probably not.
  • Now! I have 62 tomato plants growing. Many heirloom types including Black Crim, Purple Cherokee, Black Russian and Siberian. Any of which as last summer will sell for $5 apiece. Yeah, I'm going commercial. I can do better tan the farmer's market. Planning a self service vegetable stand in the front yard. I am also going to have plenty of squash, okra, turnips, parsnips, beets, eggplant, cabbage, kolrabi, radishes, beans, peas to sell. And fortunate enough tat my garden is almost completely watered by a free source. A seep spring from a mountain beind my place.
