If your air condtioner in the car was working properly, it would actually cool the car better. The fact that your air is barely cold suggests your a/c system has a gas leak. When you turn on a/c it usually initiates a fan near your radiator which infact cools your cooling system. Most a/c systems these days will not turn on if the gas is low in the system to protect certain parts and as a result your a/c fan wouldnt be working. I suggest you have you a/c system regassed and leak tested.

It shouldn't have much effect. The overheating is probably being caused by something else. Explain to me what is happening. I'll try to help you figure it out.

check the condencer in front of the radiator could be contaminated with bugs an grass ,the burning smell could be the belt slipping, on the pully.an the over heating may be the ac fan not running when the ac is on the ac puts more load on the engine when on check the thermostat also' do you ever hear the belt squeal when the car is running ?
