  • Ensure the correct grease is being used and that the unit is correctly sealed. If it's not, salt will get in, get rid of the grease, and corrode the bearing. There could also be excess heat being produced due to too much resistance in the spindle. My first guess here would be that the wheel nut was put on too tight. Did the same garage make all of the repairs you mentioned? If so, try a different shop. I know when I got transmission work done the mechanic used a bare impact gun to put on the lug nuts, which basically takes them to 230+ft/lbs (spec is 80-100). This happened even after I warned him and told him not to, and it has permanently damaged the front axle. Cost me $100 to replace all the lug nuts too. Hope this helps, Good luck
