Don`t be sure there`s a chance he would make it much worse.

It should have been abolished long ago in my opinion.
-
They should never have implemented it in the first place. +2

If I were hired based on my ethnicity instead of merit, I would be offended. Affirmative Action is an insult to minorities. It's suggesting that minorities can't handle getting a job. Yes, do away with that shiznit.

long overdue, I had to add to my answer. Many ppl that voted for Obama just because they think he is balck, didn't know that when he was a senator he was extremely opposed to AA (this in not verbatim) he thought AA was someone who worked hard to get where they were say to someone else that they are less of a person and that they need help (a hand out) to get to the same level Follow the links http://www.evilmilk.com/pictures/Racist_Computers.htm http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/1326920 Is this just stupid or what?

To me, affirmative action is and was always wrong. The policy was well intended to help groups who were victims of past discrimination. But once the policy is in practice, it discriminates against individuals who were never offenders and benefits individuals who were never themselves victims. If one person is more qualified than another but loses a position to the less qualified because that person is a member of a group that may have suffered discrimination, the more qualified person becomes a victim of discrimination. Society can never make up for past wrongs. The only just policy is to judge everyone on merit.

Yes, it should be abolished! It should have never been implemented in the first place! If I was hired for a position, and I knew I was not the best person for the job, I could not take it! It would haunt me to know I took a position that others were more qualified for than I was..
-
They should apply Affimative Action to whites now since the whites are eligible in certain parts of the nation! Just as things start reversing they want to change the rules once more!
-
The most qualified person should be hired no matter what their race, color, ethnicity, or creed. It is counter productive to do otherwise.
-
In the first place affirmative action come in to play only if some minorities representation is dangerously low. So whenever minorities representation became a fair portion of a particular job or anything for that matter it is important affirmative action automatically disappeared. If we remove affirmative action just because Obama became the President is foolish.
-
yes it should. heres my reason... did you know that the new law that was enacted by the president, which minorities can sue their former employers for lost wages after they are gone from the job for discrimination, means that a white male cannot do the same. white males are not a protected class under affirmative action. so if there is an issue with being a white male and feeling and knowing you were underpaid you cant sue. this is absurd. this whole notion that one class is protected and another not is ridiculous. this is just the government trying rally support from minorities, thats how i feel anyways. because there is no need for it anymore. why cant a white male sue?

AA is racism and should be eliminated.
-
Why now? Shouldn't we have eliminated AA when Jackie Robinson became the first black major league baseball player? How about when Douglas Wilder became the first black governor in the United States? How about when Bill Cosby became the first African-American star to lead a major TV show? After all, if the logic is that one exceptional case of a minority 'making good' means that Structural Racism.... . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Structural_racism . ...is no longer a problem, how is Barack Obama different from any other case? . (warning: profanity in the video) . .

Once I learned enough about AA in my college civics classes, I decided that such actions are not in the least bit affirmative. It is merely discrimination with a halo. Merit only.
-
It should never have been started. All this was was sucking up for votes.
