I think that putting aside the inmates and reading the bible. I do think that some Americans are hypocrites and example would be somebody who goes to church on sunday and then when they come home they curse up a storm and do all kinds of things that back in the old days would get them thrown out of their church or social circle. I do believe in god but i'm not the most religious person, I'll be the first to admit that. I do however believe that you shouldn't say you believe and behave in a certain way and then turn around and to the exact oposite. Some Americans are also simply just ignorant, But we can't say that it is just Americans is all people in the world, from Europens to South Americans.......

How many 'outmates' have read the Bible? Do the inmates believe what they have read? Did they read it before they went to jail? Did they follow the instructions given inside? Did the Bible cause the jail or the jail cause the Bible? Or did something completely different cause both the jail and the Bible? Was the Bible an accelerant or a retardation device? And why exactly did they go to jail? The most violent, dangerous person I have personally met was born into a family of JWs. But this guy didn't believe the Bible, and he wasn't a practising JW. So are you going to classify him as a JW or an atheist? How many experienced racing car drivers still have bad crashes? Do we say that they suddenly lost all their skills and that's how they crashed? Do we say that what they learnt was wrong because they crashed? No. They used their extra skills to go faster and suddenly the odds of crashing became remarkably similar to our own - except at a higher speed and in a tighter situation. That'll do for starters.

prison gives you time to reflect on the mistakes you've made in life and what you would like to do different when you get out. While it's true that many get out and reoffend it's also true that some realize prison is a wake up call and do change their ways when released and often reading the Bible is part of that process

It would be illogical to draw a conclusion from just this data. I was required to read the bible in English class in high school. I have also read many other religious books. This does not mean that I have adopted the teachings of every book I have read. We also don't know when they have read the bible? Did they read the bible after going to prison? Moreover, many devout Christians who follow the bible have different interpretation as to what it means.
