maybe its because metal gets excessive hot and highly cold, and when the body touches it it can harm t with these materials and plastic only can hold so much pressure where as porcelain is most durable of all when containing water and weight.

It's cheap, sturdy, waterproof, easily formed into odd shapes, keeps that shape forever, resist stains, doesn't rust, and is easy to clean. You think not? Well, just about anything will come off porcelain with muriatic acid (use with great caution and don't even buy it if you've got small children!) But neither metal nor plastic would necessarily be resistant to muriatic.

Metal and plastic expand and contract with changes of heat. When the cold water flushes, the metal or plastic would contract, possibly too much which would stop everything being flushed. Nice thought, isn't it?
