If a child has a half sibling on their father's side (same father different mother) and a half sibling on their mother's side (same mother, different father) what relation are those two siblings to each other?

to clarify, my wife's daughters have a half sister (their father's daughter with his new spouse) and we are expecting a child (which would be their half sibling) though there is no blood relationship between their half sister and their new sibling, they will both be siblings of my step daughters, do they have a relation? it's hard to say step as both new children were born after my wife and her x husband divorced.

same mother different father i feel that they would be whole sister and brother, now if they had same father different mother, i would think that the child would be half brother and sister.

I have 2 siblings. We share a mother, but their father is not mine. They also have siblings that they have from their father, but not our mother. They are in no way related to me: we merely share common siblings. As for the other post about whole on the mom's side but half if from the dad, that is just a belief that a lot of people, including myself, were brought up to believe. No real reason behind it. The whole half sibling thing needs to go away!. I don't introduce people to my sister & say "oh this is my half-sister, so & so". It's just dumb! They are my brother & sister (whether I want them to be or not!)

If you have the same mother then biologically you are full siblings.If you do not have the same mother then you are half siblings ,that's what my friend says. I personally feel that if your bloodline is the same having both the same mother and father then your full siblings .When you only have one parent in common from either side then your half siblings.I don't know how it is in the eyes of the law though, do you?You are only related to a child that has the same line.The two siblings that are related to you are not at all related to each other.

Technically, they aren't related by blood. If the couple are married, they are step-siblings. If the parents have a child between THEM, then they would be 1/2 siblings to THAT child. I know a family of six kids that way. Two boys from the father's first marriage, two boys from the wife's first marriage, and they have two girls between them.

half brother/sister as long as they have one parent that are the same. I have a slueee of them.
