  • No, that is not planted, that is buried. A planting depth of 1 ½ to 2 inches is often recommended for corn under ideal conditions.
  • OMG! Its coming up. Even before the peaches and cream buried at the right depth!
  • Some of them might, but not all of them. A seed has enough energy giving material in it to get the plant off to a good start. Usually just enough to get the plant through the surface of the ground and sprout leaves that can get sunlight. Corn is rather vigorous so a few of them will probably make it is they will be healthy if they do.
  • Yes, most of it will...just take a little longer to germinate
  • If the soil is friable and loose and there is enough moisture and heat, they might come up, but it's a long wiggle and reach for them. Usually you just plant 1-2 times their diameter.
  • Not much. Corn should be planted 1/2 inch. What does come up will be exhausted and yellow in color. What remains growing will probably not have worth while production. My advice is reseed while you still can.
  • It's a bit late to be aswering this particular question, (today is Aug. 24/08) but I'm holding a seed package in my hand and on the back it says "planting depth: 3 cm or 1 1/4 inches" Did the boys plant at least three rows for proper pollination?
