No, I think that the Democrats don't have the 2/3 majority that they need to automatically override vetos, so they are forced to give in to Republican and Bush demands.
Those demands and bad policies are slamming the current adminstration without help from the Democrats. Just look at the economic mess we're currently in. And have you filled your gas tank lately?

Yes, the Democrats and the media running the economy down for over a year to create fear and help Obama get elected has resulted in the economic problems to be much worse than they would have been otherwise. It was very selfish and irresponsible.

The dems don't have the needed votes to overide the Bush regime at this time - so that part of the question is moot.
As for putting the screws to the Bush Regime - heck yeah it's in the Democratic parties best intrest to expose the failures and lies of the Bush junta.
