  • Most teeth whitening procedures do NOT hurt. (although, some patients do experience sensitivity near the gum line.) http://www.docshop.com/education/dental/cosmetic-dentistry/teeth-whitening/faqs/ I've personally used the at-home solutions for teeth whitening. (crest white strips) The most I felt using those was minor sensitivy on my gums. Ask your dentist before you try anything yourself!
  • Depends how you do it. First of all, a strong suggestion, don't fall prey of all these teeth whitening advertisements. The fact is, our teeth are NOT white because our teeth have a layer of enamel which prevents teeth from many things like acidic or alkaline food we eat, backteria in mouth and loads of other things. This enamel itself has bit yellowish colour so our teeth never look "white". In pursue of white teeth, someone may end up getting rid of enamel (which doesn't regenerate BTW) by harsh treatments and that may hurt. The teeth will be white after teeth whitening stuff but lifelong consequences of that 'treatment'.. lets not talk about it. Daily careful brushing and visiting dentist once a year is enough to keep healthy and almost white teeth (unless you are a smoker, of course)
  • I don't know but it could if they are using strong chemicals because they could be eating away at the surface of the enamel. I wouldn't be keen on getting my teeth whitened and would want to know all about what the treatment involves first.
  • Your gums will get irrtated if you're trying to whiten your teeth.
