I rather enjoyed it, but I don't think it's based on the Bible at all.

C.S. Lewis was one of the great defenders of Christianity. Many of his writings are aimed at just that. With the Chronicles of Narnia, he was a lot more subtle about it, but I think that one can clearly see the Christian influence on them, particularly in the character of Aslan. Aslan, the deity that we do see, was the son of the Emperor over the see whom we never see. Similarly, Jesus, who did come to Earth, is the Son of the Father, who is rarely seen in the Bible. Aslan gave his life for one who fell from grace just as Jesus did for all of us. Aslan rose from the dead, as did Jesus. Aslan created the world of Narnia, as Jesus did our world. Finally, Aslan stood in judgment of the inhabitants of his world at its end, just as Jesus will for that inhabitants of this world when it comes to an end. So, there are a lot of parallels between Jesus and Aslan. However, I think that these parallels are actually subtle enough in the Chronicles so that someone who is not Christian can still enjoy the books. Personally, they are some of my favorite books. I wish that there had been more of them and that they were longer.
