  • Contact your local social services office and ask them.
  • I think you have to be at least 18 years old...
  • At 16 years old, you are legally old enough to move out of your parents house without their permission, if you wish to do so. In Ontario, anyway. I'm not sure about the other provinces. If you want to take it further than just moving out, you'll likely have to go to court.
  • You would have to amanscipate yourself, which is giving up rights as your parents child and claiming yourself as an individual, but it has to be something you are sure of doing, at sixteen, making that choice may not be something you really wish to do because it will make things much harder for you later.
  • In Manitoba you can make your own decisions at 16, but finding a place that will rent something out to a 16 year old is going to be VERY hard..believe me I did it, and boy do I regret it!! I really wish I stayed at home, eventhough it wasnt my favourite place in the world to be, it would have saved me so much trouble!! I am now 20, making a little over minimum wage, and I would love to go to college or university, but I need to pay my bills...Cant have both these days... Stay at home as long as you can, or find a relative to move in with if your sotuation is really bad or dangerous. It will prove to be smarter in the long run.
