  • Within the first trimester a weight gain of 25-35 lbs. is expected. Hormones and the bodily changes make you more emotionally suceptable to the things people say. Appetite changes are normal. Take a day to yourself, as another user said. Remember, reguardless of what has been said, you are becoming a mother again and no one is more beautiful than a mother. There is nothing else so great in this world. Be proud. You aren't 'fat' you are pregnant. Your son doesn't understand. You can pass off what he has said as due to childhood nievete. You may feel big, but you aren't. You are beautiful.
  • Kids always think adults are fat! If you only gained 14 pounds that is not bad at all. Get yourself some cute outfits. They are out there now, even Target and the lower priced stores (thrift?) have great stuff for new mommas. If you are hungry, make sure you are taking a good prenatal because that hunger is real and you may be lacking some nutrients. Stuff yourself with fruits and veggies. Good for baby and good for you. Remember 14 pounds is not bad at all.
  • Hi Deb Smooth. I can so remember what that feels like. Rest assured this is natural and you will lose the weight after the baby is born. You need this weight gain. Throw your scales away, this is not the time to use them. If you were not gaining weight I would be more worried. I remember that as soon as I got pregnant I gained 16 pounds in 16 weeks. My butt was bigger than my baby bump. I gained a total of 3 stone during the whole pregnancy. I was a UK size 8 before getting pregnant and 3 months after having my baby boy went back down to a smaller size 6 with an easy exercsie regime and healthy eating plan. You will claim your body back again because you obviously care about your body and will do all you can when the time is right to get back in shape. You are doing a great job of nourishing your little one so give yourself a break and the recognition you deserve for being a great mum. Xxx
