You know, I was in England a few years back and was surprised they were still measuring distances in miles.
-
I should think so. The Metric system is easier than the inch - feet etc. system.
-
Might as well, Try buying anything today thats built without metric screws, nuts, or bolts!
-
Oh, no.. let's wait a few more decades. I'm sure the rest of the world will come around to our way of thinking.... Or we'll declare war on them as well!
-
Funny I have lived in the US all my life and we use both. why should we just use one way to measure things?
-
We still like our imperial measures in the UK - We still sell fruit and veg in pounds/ounces, distances are still in miles, beer is still (and always will be, no matter what Europe says) in pints!!
-
I don't know why they didn't convert to metric ages ago. It's horribly confusing to try and explain how tall I am when I have to convert it to imperial for Americans who ask me. I usually get it wrong and they look at me funnily.
-
I used to hate that we didn't use the metric system - which is far easier to use and remember. But now, it's a spite thing. We've done the dumb way for so long, may as well keep on doin' what we're doin'.
-
Yes, I hate it when I have to convert my height into centimeters and meters or my weight into kilos. I feel so much slimmer in kilos....lol

I've often wondered why the U.S. never changed. I can remember nearly 40 years ago in grade school talking about it. But, I suppose most are resistant/too stubborn to change? Now I've done it the "old" way for so long, I'd probably have a difficult time. I felt "dumb" not too long ago when my brother's new wife came over from the Phillipines and she was talking about something in metric...and I was like...Huh?? Don't know if you could teach this old dog new metric tricks! LOL!
-
Bullshit, crap on your metric system. I don't need my systems to be metric, thank you.
-
As soon as you guys start driving on the right side of the road! :) Actually, my company has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars over the last 10 years, retooling, and redesigning our manufacturing equipment for metric production and maintenance. Our product is all metric. If it cost our small company a small fortune, it would cost trillions to retool every manufacturing plant, change all of the textbooks, and replace all of the measuring devices in the nation.
-
Yes. But I thought they were already using it for time units, don't they?
-
I think we could spend the many bilions of dollars that would take to change over, on many more worth while things.
