No one in their right mind would hold one person responsible for what another person said. However, this man was Obama's pastor for over 20 years. That's a long time to have someone as your pastor only to "suddenly discover" that you disagree on something as basic as whether the US government deliberately created the AIDS virus to eliminate people of African descent.

Obama is held responsible because Clinton's method of campaigning is finding everything she can to use against him, and taking it out of proportion, weather he said/agrees with it or not. This, plus the fact that most people don't think for themselves (as well as my personal opinion that Rev. Write is enjoying the lime light a bit too much) is why he is being held responsible. -_-

Nobody is holding Obama responsible for what his pastor said. The controversy is over Obama's apparent tolerance of his pastor's views... whether or not he should have spoken out, left the church, etc.

I thought Obama's pastor was being held responsible for what he said. Obama is only being held responsible for putting the maniac into a position of power.

He's not. He is responsible for sitting there and listening to it for 20 years.

Because he went to that church for 20+ years as an adult. And Obama said in his book that this man was his spiritual mentor. There is no way that he went to that church and did not now the hateful message that man was "preaching". And before it all came out Obama was defending him.

So if we use the selfsame logic that so many Republicans are backtracking upon- That he put up with the man's attitude for 20 odd years. Then what does the same mean when they suddenly discover that they themselves have been supporting a bunch of child molesters? For many years? http://ffrf.org/timely/pedophilechurch.php http://www.armchairsubversive.org/ Sit and Spin!
