I am not sure about song lyrics, but could these be the elephants you are talking about? The film opens with Babar as a child in the jungles of an unidentified country. (Could be India...could be France) We see Babar play with his mother, and with his friends Arthur and Celeste. http://www.dvdreview.com/quickpeek/collect/108.shtml

These are the words I can remember: Did you ever, ever lose an elephant? It's really quite a silly thing to do; But there is something that is even sillier And that is losing two. But that's what we have done today. Arthur and Celeste have gone away. Their mothers cry and worry so, "Oh where, oh where did our elephants go?" We are looking for two dear little elephants. We're searching north and south and east and west For two thousand pounds of dear little elephants Named Arthur and Celeste, Named Arthur and Celeste. (spoken:) Arthur, Celeste, where are you? I know this song from a children's record from the early sixties (when I was a child) by Canadian singer Gisele MacKenzie. I'm not positive but I think the title might be "Did You Ever Lose An Elephant". This song is based on the Babar stories and I think the song on the other side of the 45 rpm record is also. I remember a cartoon picture sleeve. (Unfortunately I no longer have the record.)

I have an extra copy of this record (the single) if that's of any help. It's originally from Gisele MacKenzie's album "Gisele MacKenzie sings and Tells the Adventures and Travels of Babar the Elephant." Gisele was a dear friend of mine...she was about as fantastic as any person could ever be...bless her heart.
