  • I suspect not.
  • Considering that a large percentage of the urban population commutes long distances to work, it will happen eventually. Will it alleviate the problem of overpriced gas and greedy oil company gouging, NO. It is being done in some industries and is welcomed by the employees because of the three day weekend. Saving energy is a natural, so more companies will follow.
  • When companies pay for 5 days a week when people are only working 4. Losing a day that is worth at least $75 after taxes doesn't make up for the $7 it costs to get to work and home.
  • Working a 4 day week would save gas, but the productivity of the nation would drop by 20%. Average consumers would be sacrificing a fifth of their salary to save enough for a drive through dinner. 10 hour days wouldn't do much as it would likely cause issues with stress, overworking, and various other things. I don't see it happening.
