You need a bachelor's degree to be a pilot. You might want to think about the Air Force Academy or ROTC, depending on your age.

Navigators are being phased out or soon to be, with the invention of computers, GPS etc, navigators are a thing of the past or soon to be. ROTC is your best bet depending on your age, study hard in math and science bring the grades up if need be, and you will achieve your dream....it all depends on how bad you want it. Be the pilot that you really want to be, you and you alone are in charge of your destiny no one else is.

As deltabtry, wrote, navigators are being phased out. However, on those plane that do still have them, the main reason for the navigator was to tell the pilot where he was. When trying to penetrate enemy airspace, you don't want your planes broadcasting their position over the radio. So, the navigator was part of the crew aboard the plane.

ahh! the good ol' naviguesser as we liked to call them ;) lol! just kidding! there's still plenty of air force planes with navigator positions on them. mostly cargo planes, the bombers, tankers and passenger planes have mostly gone computerized. but cargo still needs that fine touch of the human hand ;) yes, they fly with the plane, so you'll get plenty of flight time and get to get to see lots of really cool places. if you get the chance to choose what kind of plane, pick the c-130! yeah, they're loud, uncomfortable, old, et cetera. but they get to fly to some really great places that other planes don't. and many of those places are at a higher per diem than the nicer planes too, so that means you make more money while you travel ;)
