Does it bother you when you have taken time to select a unique avatar and someone else "borrows" it?

Nobody has "borrowed" mine, but it would definitely bother me. I'd like to think that I'd find it flattering, but I know me better than that!

It would only bother me if it was an avatar I made or had my picture on it.

Oh yes! I went through this quite a bit when I used to use a 2-d graphical chat known as The Palace. One could easily make avatars from existing pictures or draw one your own (known nowadays as "dolls" all around the internet, actually. Its caused quite a phenomenon!). I was one of the first people to create these little images and would frequently have them stolen :D It irked me to no end! That is of course, until I realized that they stole them not out of malice, but because they LIKED them. Enough to steal them, if you didn't like others using them. It still sucks, but you must remember that anything you put online can and will be used by someone else with or without your consent. I consider it a compliment now.

I was going to copy your avatar, make it mine, and then post a "No" answer. But this attempt at humour would have taken too much work and I'd have to leave my avatar as the same thing for a while... So since my plan didn't work, I'd have to say that, Yes, it would probably bother me a little if it was done intentionally.

I don't think it would bother me if one of my AB friends borrowed it but it's never happened to me so I can't say for sure. If somebody who I didn't know or like borrowed it then it would at least feel weird if not bothersome.

Considering that I have created myself (with Keysha's editing skills) every avatar I have used other than my first one, it is not "borrowing". It is "cloning". I report to AB staff if this occurs and the matter is swiftly dealt with. This has only happened once. I reported it before going to dinner and the cloned account was nuked by the time I got back.

It would certainly irritate me. My avatar is a painting of me ....so why someone would want to steal it..I don't know!

It does not bother me but it is not fair or good. When someone clones your avatar whatever they do will fall on your shoulders. That is why they should not be allowed, thus if it ever happens to me I would report it. Best regards +5.
