  • The answer is an overwhelming no. Even though I'm not a mormon, when I used to go there were people of all races. Thats not the reason I don't go anymore.
  • Absolutely not. Everyone who wants to join is welcomed into the church.
  • It used to be that blacks could not hold certain offices, so what was the point of joining (supposedly dark skin is the "Mark of Cain")? A while back they realized this was, in a word, stupid. Now blacks can hold office (or "The Priesthood").
  • It was never a case that non-Caucasians were not allowed to join the Church. One of the first missionary efforts involved sending missionaries to preach to the American Indians in of Indian territory just six months after the Church was organized. We have had significant missionary efforts on most continents and among most of the people of the world for much of our history. The only exception to this is those primarily of sub-Saharan descent. They were considered to be mostly of descent from Ham and, therefore were bearers of the curse of Cain. However, in response to a revelation, the restrictions place on that heritage were lifted and now all people are welcomed in full fellowship within the Church.
  • No, my boyfriend's Mormon church has a session in Spanish in the morning and two English sessions in the afternoon. So, obviously, non-Caucasians are allowed.
  • Absolutely not. Like all denominations of Christianity begun before emancipation and Civil Rights, it has its history of racially discriminatory beliefs and practices. These were taken care of quite some time ago when Church policy on this changed.
  • Do you want me to tell you what you want to hear....Or do you want me to be honest?? Or is this a trick question and one you already have an answer for.....That your just setting me up to be D/Red for answering it honestly?? I'll get D/Red just for asking these questions, so you might as well tell the truth, since I've stuck my head out....But please do before the trolls cuts it off.
  • Heck no. I happen to be Caucasian, but my wife is part Cherokee (although admittedly, her skin’s lighter than mine is!), my brother-in-law is African-American, and my sister-in-law is Hispanic—and all three are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Need I say more? ;-)
  • Membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was never limited to just Caucasians. Even if you consider the Curse of Cain and the Curse of Ham, those curses only denied the Priesthood to those lineages, and not all descendants of Cain and Ham are Black NOR are all Blacks descendants of Ham or Cain. Please learn the truth before slinging mud - you may find not everything in your hand is earth ;)
