Why do sports stars get paid better then the teachers we entrust our children's minds to?

Because sports stars generate measurable income and their salaries do not come from our taxes. I do think teachers should receive more than they do. My wife is a teacher.

Having raised 4 children who went through the public school system, I can honestly say that, in my experience, most of "the teachers we entrust our children's minds to" are far overpaid.
