When shopping and you decide to not buy an item, do you put it back with the rest of the stock or just leave it anywhere in the store?

With rare exception, I try to make the effort to put the item back where I got it from. I worked a lot of years in retail, I know how irritating it can be to have to clean up a customer's mess at the end of the night.
